Young siblings Matthew and Anna Bowman are continuing to impress on the national and county scenes.
Matthew, who plays for Hull City, represented the Independent Schools sides at the Oakham Academy Festival.
Former Scalby Juniors player Bowman, 13, who plays full-back, shone for the squad’s B team before being called up to the A team for their later games in the tournament that saw academy teams from Watford, Leicester City, Derby County and Sheffield Wednesday among others travel to Oakham School.
Matthew, who is going into his second season at Premier League outfit Hull, was at Leeds United and Middlesbrough before moving to Humberside, and he’s keen to keep his feet on the ground and continue to progress.
Matthew said: “It was good to play at a really high standard, it was a good pace but I’m used to that so I enjoyed it.”
Matthew’s younger sister, nine year-oldAnna, is also showing great promise after her selection for the under-11s FA Centre of Excellence squad based in York under the watchful eye of Gail Colling.
Dad John Bowman is incredibly proud of both, he said: “I’m very proud.
“They’ve both got a great chance of going far in the sport, but it’s more important that they enjoy it and we’ll just see where it takes them.
“We’re not daft enough to cast aside their education, and they’re both very grounded.”
