Midfielder Tom Claisse is confident that Scarborough Athletic have what it takes to claim the NCEL Premier honours this season

Claisse, who returned for his first start in the 4-3 win against Nostell on Saturday, is backing Boro to go all the way in the race for the title.

He said: “I can guarantee that we will win this title.

“We are all so hungry for it, anyone outside of the changing room wouldn’t believe how much we want this.

“Nostell were a tricky team, but we showed our spirit and desire and that got us through.

“We are not here to make up the numbers. A lot of people think we are primadonnas, getting paid loads of money, but we are showing that we get paid what we deserve.

“We are all honest lads, we want to earn our money and we want to do well for this club.”

Boro assistant manager Darren France was also delighted with the battling spirit.

He added: “We didn’t play particularly well, but we showed plenty of character and I think we deserved it in the end.

“We could have been dead and buried, but we changed things around and the rest is history.

“We defended too deep and they took their chances. We have goals from all over in the team and it just showed what we can do.

“In the past we’d have lost it, but now we have the character and the decision making that can get us through.”
