Have your say

It’s that time of year when football fans start to get excited ahead of the new season.

Players coming and going, transfer rumours, and of course, new kits and merchandise to boot.

It’s very disappointing to see price hikes across most Premier League clubs.

I think Hull are the only club to keep their shirt priced at £40, with most others rising to £50 - which is ludicrous.

The likes of Nike and Adidas are paying more and more for these sponsorship deals with the big clubs, but are simply passing that extra cost onto the fans, and that’s wrong.

It’s a good thing I don’t spend much time in the bookies as my predictions from last week ended up going horribly wrong.

Serena Williams crashed out of Wimbledon against little-known Sabine Lisicki and the Lions lost the Second Test against Australia.

I thought Serena was going to go all the way this year, and I thought the Aussies had too many injury problems to beat the Lions.

Lucky I didn’t have any money on them.

I also see our main man Joe Kinnear has been at it again in the media.

You’d have thought someone like Kinnear would want to slip in under the radar and get his feet under the desk, but he has come in like a bull in a china shop and has now come out and said he’s the best director of football in the Premier League.

I wonder what Mike Ashley is making of all these statements in the press.

We’re almost set for the Ashes now and both the sides have been in action this week.

I wouldn’t pay too much attention to those games though. No disrespect to Essex or Worcestershire, but they aren’t the toughest of opposition.

PERFORMANCE OF THE WEEK:

It has to be Bala Town, the part-time team from Wales, who beat Estonian league leaders Levadia Tallinn 1-0 in the first leg of their Europa League qualifier.

QUOTE OF THE WEEK:

“It’s definitely not a shock. I just need to do better.”
