Date set for Scarborough Saturday League representative team cup clash

The Scarborough & District Saturday League representative team will play their FA Inter-League Cup clash against the Teesside League on Wednesday April 1, 7.45pm ko, at Thornaby.

The Scarborough representative team, led by Newlands chief Shaun Mancrief, claimed a 3-2 victory against their York League counterparts in the Ernie Fairclough Trophy match at Pickering Town FC last October.

Scarborough will hope to build upon that winning form at Teesside, with Newlands star Danny Jenkinson and Athletico2B ace Shaun Dodson starring at Pickering.

This competition is the FA’s national knock-out cup for representative sides of local leagues at Step 7 or equivalent, and is contested every two years, with the current competition culminating in a final to be held in April 2016.

A total of 51 leagues have entered the competition, that was introduced in 2004 and has steadily gained in popularity since then, with the competition winners going on to take part in the UEFA Regions Cup as representatives of the FA.
