Derek Exley: We’ll move on from cup defeat

Saturday was a disappointing performance, our squad was a bit lightweight, but at times we just didn’t compete.

Obviously it is frustrating with it being my first game as manager, but we will be going out there to put it right when we play at home to Hodgsons in the Humber Premier on Saturday.

We have a few lads back, Martin Cooper is available and Ricky Greening might have recovered from injury, so both players will add some experience to the squad.

Hodgsons are towards the bottom of the table, so if we can get out there, score a few goals and pick up the points then it will pick our heads up after last week’s defeat.

It is never easy in these games though because you come up against some good lads.

There are a lot of players in our league that have dropped down from places like Bridlington Town, Scarborough Athletic and other clubs like that.

We are fortunate enough to have some great lads in our team as well.

If you look at players like Jamie Bradshaw, nobody can touch him when he is on his game.

Aidan Thomas showed this for us on Saturday, he was one of the few players to get it down and get at Grangetown, which was why I named him my man of the match.
