EASTFIELD St James will tackle Edgehill in the final of the District Cup after they sealed a 1-0 win at Filey Town after extra-time.
The sides couldn’t be separated after the 90 allocated minutes, with both sides battling for every ball and cancelling each other out.
The closest both sides came to breaking the deadlock was striking the cross-bar, but the game was predominantly played in the middle of the park with Danny Price, Kris Tate and Bobby Penney all worked hard by young Filey duo Jordan Philliskirk and Adam Ditchburn.
The first half of extra-time passed by without incident and it looked like the game was heading for a penalty shoot-out when Eastfield struck.
Dan Baldry beat a couple of defenders and fired in a shot that Filey keeper Andy Burrell parried away. A Filey defender mis-kicked and Baldry was on hand to cash in on the mis-judgement to head home and seal the win for Kev David’s men.
David praised the work of his midfield trio and left-back Niall Gibb, who made his return from injury.
