Edeghill Football Club are about to commence their 40th successive season in the first division of the Scarborough & District League.

To commemorate this milestone the club is planning to produce a history book, to chronicle the many trophy successes over the years, as well as past players and memorable matches.

Any former player or official of the club who has any old press cuttings, photos, stats or memories that they would like to see included in the book, is asked to contact club secretary Alec Coulson on 01723 379253 or go to the Edgehill FC Facebook page.

They joined the third division in 1974, finishing fourth in their debut campaign. The following season they captured the third division title, and added the second division championship 12 months later.

So, after just three seasons in membership of the league they had made their way up to the first division, where they have remained ever since, winning the championship 15 times, a record held jointly with Filey Town.

The coming season will see the club reach the milestone of playing their 1,000th league match.
