Six different Falsgrave FC players each scored a hat-trick during the same game, in a Scarborough Saturday League third division fixture.

Division three leaders Falsgrave beat Seamer Sports Reserves 18-0 at Oliver’s Mount and Paul Brady, Mikey Anderson, Clayton Walker, Richard Tolliday, Nick Ellis and Kieran Link all managed to net trebles.

Manager Billy Johnson said: “We were superb. I don’t know if it is a record, but I doubt many teams have ever hit six hat-tricks in one game.”

Falsgrave president Steve Adamson decided to try to discover if such a feat had ever occurred before, and contacted the Football Association in London.

The FA informed Adamson that they had never heard of six hat-tricks having been scored in a match before, but did not keep records of football at amateur level, and advised him to get in touch with the North Riding County FA, who administer the game in the local area.

Alan Geddes, PR and marketing officer at the North Riding FA confirmed that he had never known it to happen before, but could not be sure that it was unprecedented.

Geoff Nellist, secretary of the Scarborough & District Saturday League, said he could not recall so many hat-tricks being scored in a single game previously in local football.

Keith Sales, secretary of the Scarborough & District FA, said: “Usually, when a team runs up a big score, at least one player will have scored five or six of the goals.

“I have never known anything like this happening before in local football so it could well be a record.”
