SCARBOROUGH Athletic’s fans have done their bit to boost the Ryan Blott appeal.
The supporters have helped to pay the legal fees - believed to be approximately £1,200 - for the appeal against the FA, which has allowed Blott to carry on playing his football for the club. He originally faced a 112-day ban, but because of the successful appeal, he is now free to play.
Boss Rudy Funk said: “I have praised our fans a great deal for their support since I arrived at the club, but this is just the icing on the cake.
“The cost of the legal battle was quite high, so for the fans to help out like this was just amazing.
“As a club, from myself, Ryan and everybody, we would just like to say a big thank-you.”
Meanwhile, Funk is aiming to wrap up a new signing this week ahead of the big NCEL Premier derby clash with Bridlington Town.
He added: “We do have seven days in for a player and we will be hoping to sort something out before the game on Saturday.
“He is a player who has turned out at a much higher level than the NCEL Premier, so he will be a big boost to our side.”
