Looking ahead

Four of the top six sides in the Barclays Premier League are on their travels this weekend as the scout analyses the upcoming round of fixtures.

Third-placed Manchester City make their way to Arsenal in the final match of the Gameweek on Monday evening.

League leaders Leicester City roll up to Everton, Tottenham Hotspur are away to Southampton, whilst Crystal Palace visit a Stoke City side that’s served up seven clean sheets in their last nine matches.

Elsewhere, defending champions Chelsea welcome Sunderland to Stamford Bridge.

Manchester United seek a first win in four attempts at home to Norwich City, AFC Bournemouth look for a third straight victory at West Bromwich Albion and in-form Watford entertain Liverpool at Vicarage Road.

Ones to watch

Leighton Baines – after a long spell on the sidelines with an ankle injury, the Everton left-back was finally handed his first start of the season last weekend. Owned by less than 3% of FPL managers, Baines’ home encounter with Leicester is the first of three Goodison Park clashes in the next four game weeks, affording him the chance to showcase the talents that served up two goals and nine assists in the previous campaign.

Junior Stanislas – an early strike against Manchester United last weekend took the Bournemouth winger’s tally to three goals and an assist in the previous four game weeks. Priced at a mere £4.2m, Stanislas now pays visit to a West Brom side that’s failed to keep out their opponents in the last six game weeks.

Marouane Fellaini – the Belgian has offered plenty of goal threat since returning to the Manchester United XI in game week 15. Over the last two matches, Fellaini’s eight attempts inside the penalty box is more than any midfielder and, having found the net against Bournemouth last weekend, he looks in fine form as Norwich make their way to Old Trafford.

Georginio Wijnaldum – a home encounter with Aston Villa looks tailor-made for the Newcastle wide man. Wijnaldum has scored all seven of his league goals at St James’ Park and with successive wins over Liverpool and Tottenham, the Magpies will be full of confidence for the head-to-head with Remi Garde’s strugglers.

Mauro Zarate – since being installed to the West Ham starting XI in game week 14, the Argentine sits second only to Odion Ighalo (13 to 16) for attempts on goal. Up against a Swansea defence that’s managed one clean sheet in the last 14 game weeks, Zarate will fancy his chances of getting amongst the goals at the Liberty Stadium.
