PICKERING Town maintained their fine form on Saturday when they clinched a 4-1 victory at home to Hall Road Rangers in the NCEL Premier division.

Young striker Tom Fenwick was the star of the show as he struck a hat-trick, with an accomplished finish by strike-partner Joe Danby wrapping things up.

The victory sets the Pikes up for two tough away-day battles against Thackley on Saturday and then Staveley on Tuesday night.

Boss Jimmy Reid is expecting more of the same from his team when these games come around.

He said: “It was another good win, but it was another chance to give our goal difference a really big boost.

“If we go out there one week and put away all the chances that we create then we’ll be in for a really big win.

“The result was never in doubt, it was just about how many we scored in the end, obviously you have to be happy with the points though.

“We have a couple of difficult away games coming up so hopefully the lads will continue to step up to the mark.”

One player that has caught Reid’s eye is Fenwick, who took his tally for the season to seven goals.

Reid added: “Tom is a quality lad, who hasa great eye for goal.

“He has scored a lot of his goals from the bench, but he came in on Saturday, scored a hat-trick and obviously did really well.”

The Pikes have recently appointed a new programme editor. Steve Adamson, a former club secretary and major contributor to the Pikes programme.

At a recent home game against Lincoln Moorlands Railway, the Pikes organised a collection in memory of loyal supporter and former Committee member Geoff Corney who sadly passed away during the summer. Geoff was also a former Town Mayor of Pickering in 1987-88.

The club have received a letter of thanks from Geoff’s wife Maria and family thanking them for the £250 donation which will go towards a treatment couch for people with leg ulcers at the Pickering Surgery.

The Pikes fixtures for October are as follows:- 3rd Staveley MW away, October 6. Boro home, 13, Durham City home FA Vase, 17. Maltby Main away, 20. Liversedge home, 24 Barton Town away, and 27. Worksop Parramore away, 30 Thornaby home first round in the North Riding County FA Senior Cup.

The Pikes FA Vase game with Durham City will take place at home on Saturday October 13 which is the war weekend in Pickering, however, the game will still be played kick-off 3pm. If the game ends in a draw the replay will be at Durham on Tuesday October 16, kick-off 7.45pm.
