Friends and family of the late Joe Greening gathered to play their annual memorial football match in his honour.

Greening tragically passed away at the age of 26 in 2010 after a car accident, and his friends and family have got together each year to host a fund-raising football fixture in his memory.

Danny Price, who helped organise the game, said: “We raised £550 this year for Joe’s son Sutton Greening.”

The game itself finished 2-1 to the dark blue team, with several younger players getting kitted up this year to remember Greening.

Price added: “It was good to see some of the young lads playing in the game like Sutton Greening, Harley Adams and Arron Holdsworth as they were only babies when Joey passed away.

“It was made even more special by little Sutton getting the winner at the end too.”

Following the game, both sets of players, family and friends gathered at The Star in Cayton.

“It’s a bit of a joint effort organising the game every year so a big thank you to everyone who helped out,” added Price.
