Funk aiming for strikers to kick on

Scarborough Athletic boss is hoping to see his strike duo of Gary Bradshaw and Ryan Blott spark a goals rush.

Bradshaw has plundered seven goals so far this season, while Blott’s strike on Saturday in the 2-0 home win on Saturday was his second of the campaign.

Funk feels that Blott’s effort will act as a huge confidence booster going into tonight’s Evo-Stik North trip to Mossley.

The Boro manager said: “Gary has scored a few of late, but we all wanted one to go in for Ryan, be it off his back-side or whatever.

“He has broken his duck now and I’m sure that will take some pressure off.

“As a striker he works his socks off, but every attacker needs confidence and the goal against Burscough will give him that.”

Boro welcome defender Matty Plummer back for tonight’s game in Manchester, though striker Danny Chambers won’t be there as he has departed for Ossett Town.

Funk added: Danny opted to go to Ossett, which is what happens sometimes in football. We wish him well and move on.”
