Scarborough Athletic boss Rudy Funk is fully focused on his side’s NCEL Premier charge after Saturday’s exit from the FA Vase.

Funk was very disappointed by Boro’s 3-2 defeat at Thackley, but he is still in positive mood.

He said: “We are disappointed as a club because we wanted to push on in the FA Vase this season.

“We said at the start of the season that our main priority is the league, and that is what we have to focus on now.

“Have haven’t been at our best in the past few weeks, but we are working hard at getting things back on track.

“We have a good unit of players at this club and we are always looking to improve so we can prgress as a team.

“There is no negativity among us, we are all now looking forward to possibly our biggest game of the season on Saturday against Tadcaster.”

Funk’s plans were hit by a mystery bug that flowed through the side before kick-off.

He added: “A lot of the lads complained before the game that they weren’t feeling well. It is something I have never experienced as a manager.

“We had to take Pete Davidson and Robbie Hawkes off. Tommy Adams and a few of the other lads were struggling as well

“You can’t take it away from Thackley though because they fully deserved their win.”
