Scarborough Athletic bagged a 3-3 draw on the road at NCEL first division side Selby Town in their penultimate pre-season friendly.
Boss Rudy Funk was pleased with the work-out and the test provided by Selby, who are now managed by former Boro midfielder Dave Ricardo.
Pete Davidson gave Boro the lead from the spot and James Bennett made it 2-0. Selby hit back with three goals, before last season’s top scorer Gary Bradshaw levelled the game in the final seconds.
Funk said: “We made a few changes for the game and at 2-0 we looked very comfortable.
“They came back after that, but we did earn a draw and overall it was a great work-out, which is all that matters.
“I’m not disappointed with the result at all. We may have made mistakes out there, but as long as we learn from them when the season starts then that is all that matters.
“There were some good performances out there. Pete Davidson and James Bennett did well in the midfield, while I thought Joe Lamplough and Matty Plummer played well at the back.
“We are getting there now. We have one training session, a game against Whitby on Saturday and then we get ready for the big kick off.”
