Funk promises magical times at Boro

SCARBOROUGH Athletic boss Rudy Funk has promised magical times next season as they close in on a confident finish to the current campaign.

Boro fought back to grab a 2-2 draw with NCEL Premier leaders Retford on Saturday, a result that bodes well for next term.

He said: “All credit to our lads because we have gone four games without losing now.

“We are working hard and trying to build for the future. There were a few players on show against Retford that will be here for next season, linked with a few more additions I feel confident that the future of Scarborough Athletic will be very bright.

“Finally we have a lot of things ironed out off the pitch and on the pitch, it is great to look forward to next season now, there will be some magical things that will happen.

“Since we have released ourselves from one of two players we have been a lot better.

“I believed in them but they didn’t believe in me and Scarborough Athletic.

“I now have a bunch of players that are playing for the club and doing a good job.”

Funk was delighted by his side’s display, though he was disappointed not to grab all three points.

He added: “People have been saying how wonderful the Retford attack is, but I didn’t see it because our back-line coped very well.

“Retford do have a lot of pace, but it didn’t bother us in the slightest.

“On reflection I think we deserved all three points, so it is a little disappointing to get just one.”
