Funk taking Redcar clash seriously

Scarborough Athletic boss Rudy Funk is taking Tuesday Night’s North Riding FA Senior Cup game against Redcar as seriously as any other match.

Boro will be hoping to host the Cleveland club after the past two encounters were called off due to inclement weather.

Funk said: “We are taking this one as seriously as any game. People come down and pay their money at the turnstiles, so we have to put as strong a squad out as we can.

“I have learned from the mistakes I made in the past when I rested too many players with one eye on games that were ahead of us.

“For me now the next game is the most important for Scarborough Athletic and that game is against Redcar.

“Everyone is fit and well and we should have our new signing Henry Sibenge available to play, as well as David Brown and Ray Ford, who have both recently joined the club.

“There is a possibility that we could make a couple of changes because everyone needs match practice, but at the same time winning breeds confidence and that is what we are going out there to achieve.

“It won’t be an easy game because people come to Queensgate and they want to compete against us, but I think we’ll be okay if we put on a performance.”
