Scarborough Athletic manager Rudy Funk will have more time for cup action this season.

Funk was the first to admit that his main foucs was on the NCEL Premier last term, though this time around he will be looking for some cup glory.

Boro will be involved in a variety of different competitions this term, including both the FA Cup and FA Vase, which get underway in August.

Funk’s men were knocked out by Tadcaster in the early stages of last year’s FA Cup, while they exited the FA Vase at the hands of league rivals Parkgate.

He said: “Last year we didn’t look fondly on cup competitions, they were something of a distraction to the bread and butter of the league.

“That will be a little different when this season gets underway because I am confident that we will be a much stronger unit.

“So as well as pushing on in the league we will look to have a bit of success in cup competitions as well.

“We will be looking for as many positive results as possible.”
