Scarborough Athletic skipper Tony Hackworth piled praise on the fans after the club’s title success at Queensgate on Saturday.
Boro beat Retford United 2-0 to make sure of the silverware after an excellent season.
Hackworth beamed: “It feels amazing.
“We have grafted our backsides off all season long after a great pre-season.
“It was clear that we had to strengthen after last term, we did that and we pushed on. To lose only two league games in one season in quite an achievement.
“It made it even more special to win it on our own patch because our crowd have pushed us on throughout.
“If it wasn’t for our supporters I don’t think there is any way we’d be in the position we’d be in right now.
The striker added that there will be no party atmosphere until after next weekend’s final game at Glasshoughton.
He said: “We are champions now, so it is a case of regrouping and pushing on again next season.
“There will be no relaxing, we have to go out there against Glasshoughton and do the best we can. It is a case of doing a professional job because we don’t want to lose any more games.
“We’ll get that game out of the way and then we have a trip away with the lads that we’re looking forward to, but obviously there is a game to play first.”
