The third stage of the Primary School Boys League Ladder competition has kicked off at Scarborough Rugby Club.

Event co-ordinator Brian Robinson said:“The tournament went really well, everyone involved thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

“The indoor tournament is the third stage of the Primary Schools League Ladder that goes on throughout the academic year.

“Following the stages that were held on grass and then under floodlights at Pindar School, the five most successful teams in the first term met in the Group A tournament.

“It made for a really competitive event having the five strongest teams playing each other.

“The Group B,C and D indoor tournaments will take place over the coming weeks before we move back to playing on grass in mid March in the next stage of the competition, which is to be held at Bramcote School.”

In a closely fought tournament, Lindhead School and Newby & Scalby both picked up nine points from their four matches.

Lindhead finished in first place by virtue of having a slightly better goal difference.

Standings:

1. Lindhead 9 pts

2. Newby & Scalby 9 pts

3. Gladstone Road 7 pts

4. Seamer 4 pts

5. Northstead 0 pts
