THE area’s top young footballers return to action this weekend as the Scarborough & District Minor League kicks off.

New team Burlington Jackdaws open up their campaign on Sunday afternoon with a trip to FC Seamer in the W Boyes under-12s Blue League.

The Jackdaws are based in Bridlington and played in the East Riding Junior League last season.

Thornton Dale under-12s, who played as Pickering Town last season, kick off with a tricky trip to Hunmanby in the Red League.

Returning to the league are Nelson United, who used to play in the Minor League as Riskers United a couple of years ago.

This season they are playing in the Castle Sports under-15s league and they start with a home clash with Goldsborough United.
