Lee commits future to Athletic

STRIKER Adam Lee is the most recent of a string of Scarborough Athletic players to commit their future to the NCEL Premier club.

Lee has opted to take his place in Boro’s line-up at Nostell tomorrow, rather than making the switch up two divisions to Evo-Stik Premier side North Ferriby United.

He could slot into the attack alongside top-scorer Ryan Blott and returning frontman Curtis Bernard, who rejoined from Bradford Park Avenue earlier this week.

A number of other Boro players have elected to remain at Boro this season, despite interest from other clubs.

Among them are defenders Matty Draper, Daz Winters and Paddy Miller, midfielder Joe Naylor and striker Ryan Blott.

Boss Rudy Funk said: “This has been some of the most pleasing news that I have had since I joined Scarborough Athletic.

“We have had so many clubs interested in our players this season, and Adam was the most recent to demand an approach, and it came from a side two divisions higher.

“I had a terrific conversation with him and he told me that he wants to be a part of the future of this club.

“He told me that he loves the club, the management, the players and the fans, and that he is 100 per cent committed to the cause.

“To have Curtis rejoining us earlier this week and now to have the news that Adam is remaining with us is a double delight for us all.”

Funk may have an attacking selection headache ahead of tomorrow’s game at the Welfare Ground, but it is a pleasant one.

He added: “We have a little bit of time to have a look at what we are going to do with players and formations ahead of the game.

“It will be a very exciting finish to the season.”
