Defender Steve Mallory has left Scarborough Athletic.
The whole-hearted former Harrogate Town man has been forced to call time on his short spell at Queensgate because of the travelling to games and training.
He said: “I’m gutted really because I was loving it. Scarborough is a great club, the management team are great and the players are quality, but it has just taken its toll.
“I thought I’d be okay, but I’ve been working down in Milton Keynes and Coventry during the day and then having to get to Hull for training and Bridlington for midweek games.
“You just can’t do it, you need to be 100% committed to it and it has been too difficult for me.
“I like to be able to relax before a game, but I’ve been heading off straight from my home in Leeds in my work gear.
“If things changed then I’d love to come back, but at the moment it is just too much.”
Joint-boss Paul Foot added: “I’m gutted Steve is leaving so early in his career with this club.
“He is a player that can play anywhere and always gave you 110%.
“He has had to put his work first though, which we obviously understand. The door will always be open if he wants to come back.”
