Newlands Park enter a massive few days tonight when they tackle The Cleveland in the North Riding Sunday Challenge Cup at Stokesley, 7.30pm.

Should they come out on top then it could be the first of three trophies in four days for the club as a whole, as they and the Saturday League side are poised to wrap up their respective first division titles over the weekend.

There could be more silverware to come as well for Ben Luntley and Ryan Cooper’s side, who are also poised for outings in the finals of the Kenward Cup and the Sunday FA Cup.

But Luntley is just focused on the job in hand.

“This has been a great season for us so far, but we just have to concentrate on what is in front of us,” he said.

“The North Riding Cup is the one that all the players want to win, it is the cup that everyone looks to.

“We were in the final three years ago and lost out to two sloppy goals, so we want to put that right.”

Newlands look set to be without Mike Wilson, Jamie Gallagher and Ben Briggs for the big clash.

He added: “They are three big players for us, but we do have a strong squad.

“It is important that you have depth with all these important games coming up.”
