Scarborough News Sunday League Division One title-holders Newlands Park are ready for a tough test when they travel to rivals West Pier this weekend.

Newlands boss Ben Luntley knows exactly what to expect from a strong Pier side: “They always have a strong side out which makes it a good game, Cameron Dobson caused us a few problems last time we played and they also have dangerous players like Luke Delve and Martin Cooper in their side.”

The last two matches between the sides ended in 4-3 and 5-4 wins for Newlands at Snainton, so there is every chance of another high-scoring encounter on Sunday.

Luntley will be without youngster Jacob Codling through suspension and he sees this as a blow to his side: “We will be missing Codling this weekend through suspension which is a disappointment as hes been brilliant for us so far this season, but hopefully we might have Ben Briggs back for the game.”

With Trafalgar seven points ahead of Newlands, although they have played two games more, a win is a must for Luntley’s side, he added: “We cannot afford to drop points with Traf being a few points ahead of us so a win is vital.”

As Pier have dropped points already this season they will be hoping for three points to keep in touch with the teams at the top.
