I watched the highlights of our win against Spennymoor on Saturday and it showed a few really positive things.
As soon as Jimmy Beadle’s shot flew into the back of the net you could hear the crowd and how loud they were.
You could also see the togetherness right across the ground, from the fans to the players to the board members.
I recently saw a clip of our win for Scarborough FC against York City on Boxing Day of 10 years ago.
I can remember Neil Redfearn scoring a couple, with Tyrone Thompson, Tony Hackworth and Ashley Lyth also bagging.
When you look back at the crowd on that day it looked brilliant, the noise was huge and they backed us 100 per cent. To me it looked similar on Saturday.
You can tell our lads are buzzing with how things are as well, when you are being backed by 400 or 500 fans feels amazing.
The feelgood factor is there at the moment right throughout the club.
The players are all buying into it. Working hard on the pitch, in training and turning up early for all of our sessions.
Earlier in the season losing became a habit for us, players went out there thinking they were going to lose and heads went down straight away.
At the moment, without meaning to sound cocky, we are turning up thinking that we will win.
Even if we go a goal behind we have the belief to keep our heads up high.
That just shows how strong we are mentally, another thing that was demonstrated on Saturday.
Young Jamie Stewart came in and did a fantastic job at full-back following his progression through from the under-19s.
Josh Venner and Tommy Wilson were also on the bench for us from the under-19s.
Jamie has shown that if these young lads come in and take their chances then they will play games.
When Jamie said after the game that he had gone from paying to get into games to playing for the team, it just underlined how the lads are progressing.
It also shows that they will be given their chance.
At this stage they may only get a handful of matches, but that experience will be massive for them.
We are pleased with how the progression of the younger players is working out for us. The link-up has been brilliant.
Under-19 manager Steve Roberts is recommending these lads and we are giving them a chance because we trust his judgement 100 per cent.
