PAUL FOOT: Show that fighting spirit or you’re out

At the moment I 100% understand the frustration of the fans and the passion behind it.

At the beginning of the season there was talk of us being up there and possibly winning the league. We set out to be in the play-offs at least, so when you look at things now we just haven’t been good enough.

It has been a massive eye-opener for us and it has shown the highs and lows that football can create.

This is the highest league that this club has ever been in, and not wanting to make excuses, we have had a tough time of it.

We’ve gone through six keepers, had more than our fair share of injuries and the players have also learned that we have to do more than turn up to win a game of football.

Personally I will continue to work as hard as I can in this role. I always believed in myself as a player and I continue to believe in myself as a man-manager, I just hope that the fans continue to back me and Bryan (Hughes).

We are all hurting at the moment. The players are all gutted for me because they know how much I want this.

The players do need to understand that they are onto a good thing at Scarborough because this is a big club.

I don’t want to pass the buck though because we are all in this together.

We need these performances though because it may come down to us having to move them on. I hope they understand that.

Scarborough Athletic will not be relegated this season, but we have to work hard and keep fighting.

When we had a good run as a club last season we just focused on the side and not the individuals.

When you are going through a blip you notice the players strolling through the game and those not interested in the fight.

You also notice the ones that are hiding and at the moment that is quite a lot of them.

When it comes down to it, if this carries on then they will be sitting next to me on the bench, sitting in the stands or leaving the club.

Since Matty Bloor has come back from injury he has epitomised what we need.

We need that to rub off on a few more of the lads.
