Pickering Town hoping to secure the services of Tadcaster Albion defender Denny Ingram.

The 37-year-old won the NCEL Premier with Scarborough Athletic last season as the East Coast club’s player/assistant-manager, but he departed for the Brewers when the new campaign kicked off.

He also has a wealth of football experience, having played for Hartlepool United, Halifax Town, Scarborough FC and Forest Green Rovers.

Pikes boss Jimmy Reid has put in the mandatory seven-day notice and has already held a conversation with Ingram.

He is hoping to confirm a deal when the pair talk again tomorrow.

Reid said: “We have put seven days in for Denny, I have spoken to him and I’ll be talking again later in the week.

“Hopefully we’ll get something sorted because he is obviously a very experienced player.

“It seems at the moment that we have too many nice players at the club, we need somebody that can be a little more ruthless.”

Reid will welcome midfielder Tommy Adams back for this weekend’s game at Parkgate, though Chris Batchelor will be absent for the next two weeks.
