Scarborough Athletic player-coach David Brown is delighted that the club have snapped up former Boston United defender Ashley Jackson.

Jackson put pen to paper before Boro's 3-1 pre-season victory at Garforth Town on Tuesday night, playing the first 45 minutes of the encounter.

Brown said: "Ash will be a good addition to the squad.

"He fit in superbly on Tuesday night, both on and off the field, it looks like he'll be a good lad to have among the group.

"I know Darren has been after Ash for a while now, so he will be pleased to get him over the line and to the club and I'm sure he will be a good addition.

"He's a fit, athletic player who can get up and down the left-wing from the wing-back or full-back position and he showed good glimpses of what he can do on Tuesday night.

"To say he hadn't been to a training session due to Boston being in the National League North play-offs, he slotted in nicely."
