Pickering Town boss Jimmy Reid has been encouraged by the progress his team have made so far in pre-season.

The Pikes kicked off their preparatory work last week when they beat Beverley Town 4-1 and they were also in action last night against Wigginton.

Reid’s men’s next outing will be in York against Huntington, 2pm, then they host York League side Old Malton St Mary’s at Mill Lane on Tuesday evening.

Reid said: “Things are going the right way so far.

“We did well against Beverley in what was a good test for us.

“It is just important that we keep things going as they are.”

One boost for the Pikes boss was the debut of striker Andy Phillips, who bagged one of the goals against Beverley.

Liam Salt, Tom Fenwick and Joe Danby were also on target for Pickering.
