Filey Town Reserves maintained their division two title challenge with a 2-0 win at FC Rosette, while in the third division 10-man Whitby RFC won 2-1 at Cayton Corinthians and Athletico2B won 4-1 at Seamer Sports Reserves.

Division two

FC Rosette 0 Filey Town Reserves 2 (Flynn, S Dickens)

Filey’s second string bounced back from a poor first-half performance to secure all three points and keep the pressure on title rivals Falsgrave.

Town boss Jay Taylor was dismayed by his team’s lacklustre display in the first 45 minutes, but after some strong words from the boss the visitors came out strongly in the second half, winning a lot of midfield ball and putting pressure on the home side.

On the hour mark Lalan Flynn’s shot was spilled by the home keeper and crept over the line to give Filey the lead.

Ten minutes later the points were in the bag, Stu Dickens taking the ball round the Rosette keeper and sliding the ball into the net.

Jonny Hunter, who usually plays at right-back, played in goal for the visitors and had a superb game, earning the man-of-the-match award.

Division three

Cayton Reserves 1 Whitby RFC 2 (Hogarth, Craig)

Ten-man Whitby RFC battle hard to come back from a goal down to earn a 2-1 success at Cayton.

The home side opened the scoring after a mistake by the Whitby RFC keeper in the 10th minute.

The three points looked to be heading for Cayton until the 70th minute when Ben Hogarth ran onto a through-ball and slotted his shot past the Cayton keeper.

Damon Craig scored the winner for the depleted visitors with a cracking effort, chipping the keeper from the halfway line, possibly the Whitby side’s best goal of the season.

Seamer Sports Reserves 1 (C Myerscough) Athletico2B 4

Athletico2B bounced back from their shock loss at Scalby Reserves with this victory at Seamer.

The visitors opened the scoring, only for Connor Myerscough’s breakaway effort to level the scores.

The away side regained the lead before half-time, and two second-half strikes secured the win for Sam Hart’s team.

Veteran goalkeeper Darrell Lewis shone for Seamer.
