Edgehill, Filey Town and Ayton all progressed in their cup competitions, Steve Clegg’s Edgehill beating West Pier to make the final of the Harbour Cup.
HARBOUR CUP SEMI-FINAL
WEST PIER 0 EDGEHILL 2 (Watson, Jenking)
Steve Clegg’s Edgehill maintained their superb run of form by beating a jaded West Pier 2-0 in their Harbour Cup semi-final.
Pier, who were no doubt suffering after their NRCFA Saturday Challenge Cup Final on Wednesday, weren’t at the races and in-form Edgehill took full advantage.
Edgehill took the lead after 48 minutes, Paul Watson on hand to smash in at the back post after Dean Craig’s cross came back off the bar.
The win was sealed when tricky wide man Aaron Jenking cut in off the flank and smashed into the bottom corner.
Edgehill boss Clegg picked out Craig as his star man, while Pier manager Andy Spivey was full of praise for full-back Mark Tucker.
COASTAL SHELLFISH LEAGUE CUP ROUND 3
SEAMER SC 0 FILEY TOWN 7 (Tomlinson 3, P Dickens 2, Briggs, Pinder)
Dave Brannan’s Filey Town maintained their superb season to date with a 7-0 hammering of Seamer in the League Cup.
Goals from Benjamin Briggs, Phil Dickens and Ricky Tomlinson notched before the break, before Tomlinson fired in a couple more after the break to seal his hat-trick.
Dickens grabbed his second and James Pinder notched as Filey cruised into the next round.
Brannan said: “The lads responded after an average performance last week at Fishburn.
“I’m delighted with the result and the performance for the lads.
FISHBURN PARK 0 AYTON 2 (Fryirs, Dennis)
Steve Roberts’ Ayton side are also into the next round after a comfortable 2-0 win at Fishburn.
Neil Fryirs robbed a defender of the ball and placed under the keeper for 1-0 after 28 minutes.
Ayton’s win was confirmed on the hour mark when a superb ball from Ryan Jackson found Mikey Dennis, who headed in after his initial effort was saved.
Roberts picked out Danny Stevens and Dennis as their best players.
