DIVISION TWO

FALSGRAVE 7 (Ellis 3, Drydale 2, Brady, Tolliday) FLIXTON 2 (Chambers, Laing)

Billy Johnson’s Falsgrave side maintained their charge for a second successive promotion after dismantling Flixton 7-2.

Striker Nick Ellis came off the bench to score a 15-minute hat-trick that put the icing on the cake for his side.

Earlier in the clash Lee Drydale had bagged two, while there were goals for Rich Tolliday and Paul Brady.

Luke Chambers and Ian Laing scored Flixton’s two goals, while Lewis Short was Falsgrave’s man of the match.

EDGEHILL RESERVES 3 (Prosser 2, L Dennis) FC ROSETTE 2 (J Wray, T Blackburn)

Jason Prosser bagged a brace and put in a man of the match performance to help Edgehill Reserves to a 3-2 win against Rosette.

Goals from Prosser and Lee Dennis had been cancelled out by Jamie Wray and Tommy Blackburn to make it 2-2 heading into the latter stages of the clash.

Prosser managed to latch onto a through-ball and finish well to claim the victory for Martin Cappleman’s men.

SCALBY 0 NEWLANDS RESERVES 2 (Stride, Sutton)

Newlands Reserves battled well to beat a resilient Scalby outfit at Carr Lane.

Goals from Lee Sutton and former Scalby man Adam Stride gave Newlands the win and keeps Scalby in trouble near the foot of the table.

DIVISION THREE

AYTON RESERVES 2 (Grayston pen, Sample) SCALBY RESERVES 2 (Arnott 2)

Ayton Reserves and Scalby Reserves battled out a hard-fought 2-2 at Oliver’s Mount after the game was switched due to a waterlogged pitch at Ayton.

Scalby started on the front foot but couldn’t take their chances, and they were punished when Carl Sample guided his header superbly into the bottom corner.

Scalby levelled almost immediately after the break as the Ayton keeper spilled a tame drive from Danny Gregory straight to the feet of Darren Arnott, whose finish was deflected in to make it 1-1.

Ayton were soon back in front though after a wicked cross into the Scalby box was handled by veteran midfielder Jez Clifford and John Grayston calmy netted past visiting keeper Tom Manson.

Scalby weren’t to be denied the point they deserved though and Gregory found Arnott at the back post to slide into the bottom corner and claim a point.

FALSGRAVE RESERVES 3 ATHLETICO2B 7 (Dodson 2, N David, Goodwin, Swift, Wood, B Sheader)

Kev David’s Athletico2B remain in the promotion mix-up after they beat struggling Falsgrave Reserves 7-3.

Shaun Dodson bagged a brace for Athletico and there were goals for Sam Swift, Travis Wood, Ben Sheader, Nick David and Shaun Goodwin.

David’s strike was the pick of the game as he smashed in from distance.

Athletico closed the gap after leaders Sleights and second-placed Soba’s games were both called off.

Chris Bowman was named as man of the match for the victors.

WHITBY RFC 1 WEST PIER RESERVES 4 (N Thomas 3, Speight)

Scarborough Town forward Neil Thomas proved to be the difference between the sides as West Pier Reserves stayed in the promotion mix-up after a 4-1 win at Whitby RFC.

After a goalless first half on a difficult surface Thomas took charge.

He opened the scoring after beating a handful of opponents before finishing well, but the home side levelled.

Rob Speight put his side back in the lead before going on to complete his hat-trick and his side’s 4-1 win in the process.

Pier boss Dave Crawford picked out keepr Scott Wardman and Thomas as his side’s stand-out performers.
