Five new sides were voted in to the Scarborough News Saturday League at tonight’s AGM of member clubs.

Filey Town and Hunmanby United added a third and reserve team respectively, while Goalsports FC, Fishburn Park Reserves and Itis Itis Rovers were also given the nod by the league’s club representatives.

This resulted in a constitution of 11 teams in division one, 11 in division two and a division three table with 13 teams for the new campaign.

Whitby RFC and Cayton will play in the top flight after gaining promotion from division two last season, while only Ayton will be relegated from the top flight after United Sports Bar resigned towards the end of last season.

Rosette make the drop into division three, while Seamer Reserves, Falsgrave Athletic and Cayton Reserves are promoted into division two, with Snainton electing to stay put in the second division despite finishing in the bottom two.

Earlier in the evening, a proposition to introduce rolling substitutes wasn’t accepted by the member clubs as they voted 16-4 against it.

The season will officially commence on September 1 and will end on April 30.

Mick Stephenson was elected in as treasurer, while former long-standing referee Albert Eadon was elected as a vice president of the league after his many years of service with the whistle.

Falsgrave Athletic won the linesman of the year award, Commercial netted the sportsman’s trophy and Ayton’s Jon Hick was secretary of the year for the 2014/15 season.

North Riding County FA referee development officer Ross Joyce was on hand at the meeting to discuss refereeing issues going forward and to answer any queries from clubs following the 2014/15 season.
