West Pier and Edgehill were among the sides to progress into the next round of the NRCFA Saturday Challenge Cup, while Filey Town made a superb start to the defence of their East Riding Senior Country Cup crown.

Edgehill dominated from start to finish as they dismantled Carperby Rovers to win 9-0 at Staxton to make NRCFA Saturday Challenge Cup progress.

Ricky Greening was in fine form in front of goal as he bagged a treble, while Dean Craig helped himself to a brace.

Goals from Danny Collins, Liam Cooper and Phil Warnett and an own goal rounded things off for Steve Clegg’s men.

Andy Spivey’s West Pier battled to a 2-0 win on a terrible playing surface at Dalton Athletic.

Pier led after just 34 seconds, Neil Thomas tapping in after a fierce shot from Luke Delve wasn’t dealt with.

The away side led 2-0 at the break after neat work from Tommy Barker and Martin Cooper fed Thomas to finish with aplomb.

A scrappy second half ensued, but Pier were never in danger of losing their grip on the game against a poor Athletic side.

Second division Athletico2B were 4-2 winners at Easingwold Town Reserves.

Nick David’s side led 4-0 before a late salvo from their hosts, as their front line of Shaun Dodson and Shaun Goodwin caused all kinds of problems.

Dodson grabbed their first following good work from Goodwin, before they switched roles and Goodwin fired in for 2-0.

The Cats led 3-0 after Goodwin grabbed his second, before the same man rounded things off after a precise ball from veteran centre-back Sam Medd.

Boss David was delighted with his team’s performance, while he named Damien Dale as their man of the match.

Ayton were beaten 3-2 on the road at Sporting Knavesmire.

Goals from Ashley Townley and Mark Oldroyd weren’t enough to give George Meads’ men a place in the next round.

Ayton Reserves were resoundly dumped out of the competition as they suffered a 9-0 defeat from a one-sided affair at home to Lingdale United.

Second division Duchess exited the competition after a 3-0 defeat at home to Unicorn.

Despite their defeat, the depleted home side named left-winger Tom Hicks as their man of the match.

Ryedale Sports lost 3-1 at Brotton RA.

The depleted visitors conceded early but makeshift keeper Ryedale Matty Gardner converted a penalty to make it 1-1.

Brotton regained the lead with a penalty and although Ryedale pressed they could not find a finish and Brotton made the score 3-1 10 minutes from time to seal the win.

Heslerton edged Cayton out of the Scarborough FA Junior Cup by a 2-1 scoreline.

A Michael Dennis goal was cancelled out by two goals from Joe Schofield as the Beckett League side progressed into the next round.

Filey Town started the defence of their East Riding CFA Senior Country Cup in sensational fashion with a 6-1 win at home to Driffield Sports.

Town led 2-0 at the break after goals from Liam Sugden and Lalan Flynn.

Cameron Dobson took charge after the break, netting Town’s next four goals as Taylor’s men breezed through.

Sixteen-year-old winger Nathan Vernon was their man of the match.

Hunmanby United were dumped out of the competition as they suffered a 4-0 defeat at home to Lord Nelson.
