A school football team will be looking the part after a Scarborough club came to their rescue and donated them one of their old kits.
Scalby Juniors sent one of their unused strips off to Padayachee School in Durban, and the team have already worn it with pride.
Scalby’s under-12s manager Jez Clifford sent the kit as a favour to a friend of his family who works in the area.
He said: “It’s great that we can help these boys out with a kit.
“The club has recently had new strips bought so we weren’t using that one anymore, so we were more than happy to help.”
Clifford’s contact in South Africa, Hilary Hunt, said: “The team are playing in their first competition this Saturday and Sunday and are very proud to be playing in their new kit.
“I can’t even describe what this has done for them, it has boosted their moral enormously and hopefully their football skills.
“Thank you to Scalby FC for their kindness and generosity.”
