Also gracing the field will be former pros Gaizka Mendieta, Owen Coyle, Craig Hignett, Marlon Beresford, Neil Wainwright and Ray Francis.

They will be coming up a side filled with players from Scarborough Athletic, Bridlington Town as well as a few guests.

Former Scarborough FC manager Slade will take charge of the team. He will be assisted by current Boro boss Rudy Funk and Bridlington Town chief Mitch Cook

Slade, Funk and Cook’s team will contain Wayne Brooksby, Paul Foot, Jimmy Beadle, Josh Greening, Craig Hogg, as well as a number of other players that will be well-known by Boro fans.

A delighted Funk said: “I am looking forward to being alongside Russell and Mitch on the day. To be asked is such a great gesture from Pete Smurthwaite and Mitch.

“It is an honour to be flying the flag for Scarborough Athletic and I hope that a good number of fans turn out to support what should be a great day.”

Organiser Cook added: “The match has been organised since turn of year it will be a great charity fund raiser.

“Brid chairman Pete Smurthwaite, former Boro player Phil Walker and I had a meeting, since then we have spent the last three weeks organising players.

“We are delighted Russ is giving his time, we also invited Rudy to get involved, which he was only too pleased to do.

“We hope that people will turn out to support what’s sure to be a great day where we can all contribute our time effort and monies to a worthwhile cause.”

The game is in aid of the Once Upon A Smile Charity, which was set up by actors Danny Millar and Daniel Jillings to raise money for the families of critically ill children and provide respite services to give families a break from constant caring duties.

Tickets cost £5 for adults, £3 for children and seniors (60+), and £12 for a family ticket (two adults and two children) and are available from West Building Supplies Ltd depots in Bridlington at St John Street, North Beck Lane and Bessingby Way, PBS Construction (North East) Ltd, 361 Anlaby Road, Hull, and also from the Bridlington Town clubhouse.
