ORGANISER Craig Salt hailed the memorial match for his father Mick and brother Glen as a huge success.

Craig, who ran the event - which was held at Eastway Sports - along with Paul Johnson, said: “It was a fantastic turn-out with regard to the players who were in action on the pitch, but also the number of former Eastfield players who also came along to watch and cheer the lads on added to the great atmosphere.

“There were plenty of the younger generation there as well, with the children having a great time on the bouncy castle. With the barbecue, and a disco going on into the night, we had a great time and raised over £400 for our chosen charities.”

The current Eastfield team won the game 7-3 with player-boss Craig, and his nephews Liam and Ben - Glen’s sons - scoring the goals for the past players team.

Craig added: “Damien Devine was the Eastfield man of the match while all the past players were outstanding.

“I would like to thank everyone who took part in the event, either playing, watching or donating raffle prizes, for making it a great day.”
