Striker Blott aiming to stay

STRIKER Ryan Blott is currently in talks about staying on at Scarborough Athletic next season.

Blott, who is now just a goal behind Craig Hogg’s tally of 31 league strikes this term, feels that his chats with boss Rudy Funk are very positive.

He is three goals short of 150 for Boro, having started just 180 games.

“I’m talking with Rudy at the moment and things are looking positive,” he said.

“Hopefully next season will be the season when he brings in a few players and we crack on, like we should have cracked on this term”

Blott may have been clinging to his matchball after netting five of Boro’s six in the win against Armthorpe, but he was still a little disappointed not to have bagged a double hat-trick.

He added: “It was nice to get five goals, though I did want a double hat-trick.

“I almost got it in the end, but my stinger went just wide.

“I scored five at Yorkshire Amateur a couple of years ago, but I enjoyed this one better, the finishes were much better.

“I haven’t been up there in among the leading scorers this season, I was about fourth or fifth until recently.

“I am always going to be around the top few though because I am confident that I’ll score goals wherever I play and whoever I play with.”

Blott said: “It was nice for Curtis Bernard to get one in the end as well, even though it was from a yard.

“He has had a rough ride over the past few weeks, so that one will do him a lot of good.”
