A GARY Hepples hat-trick helped Sun Inn to a superb 6-0 win at third division title rivals Victoria.

Scarborough Athletic midfielder Hepples opened the scoring for Sun with a neat finish and he soon doubled his side’s lead with another clinical strike, this time set up by fine work from Eddie Mackenzie.

The visitors had effectively secured the three points by half-time, with Tom Allen’s cracking strike - a half-volley hit with the outside of his right foot - making it 3-0 to Sun at the interval.

The leaders were playing into a strong wind in the second half, but this did not deter them from adding further goals to their tally.

Gary Hepples completed his hat-trick early in the second period, taking the ball past a couple of defenders before firing the ball home.

Andy Adamson’s close-ramge finish made it 5-0 and Allen’s second goal - a cool finish after a superb team move - capped the success.

Centre-back Carl Hepples, Gary’s brother, earned the man-of-the-match performance for Sun Inn for a commanding display.
