A five-star performance by Jake McAleese helped Cayton Corinthians into the last four of the Goalsports Trophy.

Cayton cruised into the last four as three first-half strikes from McAleese put them out of sight.

McAleese opened the scoring with two solo efforts as he ghosted in from the flank and finished well to put Corinthians 2-0 up.

Heslerton hit back to make it 2-1 and give themselves hope of getting back into the cup tie, but McAleese completed his hat-trick before the break to make it 3-1 at half-time.

Two further goals from the front man, one direct from a corner and one a long-range effort that the home side’s keeper could only palm into the net wrapped things up for the away side.

In addition to their star man McAleese, central midfielder Jonathan Read and centre-back pairing of Shaun Rennison and Brett Crowe stood out for the victors.

Cayton will tackle West Riding in the last four, with the other semi-final to be contested by Trafalgar Reserves and Roscoes Bar.
