Kieran Reynolds fired in a hat-trick to hand Hull Uni their first win as a club after a 6-3 success against Scarborough Spa.
Uni led 4-0 at the break after two from Kieran Reynolds, one from his brother Connor and a Simon Balshaw strike.
Spa hit back after the break to make it 4-1 but Kiearn Reynolds wrapped up his hat-trick to make it 5-1 and give Uni breathing space again.
The away side weren’t done just yet and hit two goals to drag the scoreline back to 5-3 and give themselves a glimmer of hope.
Their slim chances of getting anything from the game vanished when Balshaw grabbed his second and wrapped things up at 6-3.
Hat-trick hero Kieran Reynolds and centre-back Paul Hill were Uni’s stand-out performers.
Skipper Hill praised the performance of referee Bill Pashby after he controlled a game in which ill-tempered scenes on the side of the pitch which resulted in the Police being called to the game.
The scheduled game between Cayton and West Riding was re-arranged for later in the season at the request of both clubs.
