SUPER-sub Jamie Bradshaw helped title-chasers West Pier battle back from a goal down to secure a crucial 3-1 success at Hunmanby United.

A stunning volley from Nick Ringrose 10 minutes before half-time gave Hunmanby a deserved lead at the interval, and with half an hour remaining a below-par Pier looked set to be handing the title to leaders Edgehill.

At this point Pier brought on Bradshaw and his arrival sparked the visitors into life.

Twenty minutes from time, Pier earned a penalty when Jon Hyde clipped Ronnie Lamb in the area, in-form striker Neil Thomas side-footing the spot-kick past Howard Berridge.

A good team move then created an opening for danger man Thomas, who once again showed his skill with another side-footed finish beyond the grasp of seasoned campaigner Berridge.

In the final minute, Pier sealed the win when man of the match Bradshaw, despite having his back to goal, hooked the ball into the net spectacularly.

This win puts Pier just a point behind Edgehill, with both sides having a game tonight and tomorrow before they face each other on Saturday in what could well be a title decider.

Newlands won 7-1 at relegated Flixton to make sure they still have an outside chance of claiming the title if both Pier and Edgehill both slip up in the run-in.

Man of the match, striker Chris Dove smacked in two goals, while Sean Exley, Nick David, and brothers Jack, Sam and Josh Hakings also netted for Shaun Mancrief’s team.

Sub Jack Hakings hit the pick of the bunch for the visitors, a storming 45-yard thunderbolt that gave the Flixton keper no chance, while David’s strike was an impressive effort that flew into the top corner of the net.

Filey Town edged closer to a top-four finish with a fine 5-1 win at Eastfield.

Striker Will Hunter and central midfielder Cameron Dobson scored two goals each for a depleted home side, with left-sided midfielder Liam Sugden also on target for Town.

Drew McCoubrey struck Eastfield’s consolation goal.

Darren Pledger earned the man-of-the match award for a fine display at right-back, the veteran being the exception in a very youthful Filey outfit.
