TURKS Head boss Colin Jenkinson hailed his side’s battling spirit after they overcame itis itis 1-0 in the McCain Cup final last night.
In the game played at Seamer Sports, a single goal from Tom Williamson on the hour mark was enough to seal it for the division three champions.
Jenkinson said: “It was a real battle and my lads stuck to the task even though they did not play at their best.
“Fair play to itis itis because they gave us a good game and were always in it.
“We had a brilliant chance to go 1-0 up in the first few minutes but Joe Cairns was unlucky to hit the crossbar.
“I think if we had scored then, we would had settled down and played more attacking football.”
itis itis had chances of their own and pushed Turks Head all the way but it was Jenkinson’s charges who held firm.
He added: “Some of their lads did very well such as Mark Oldroyd and we know what we will be up against next season.
“They worked very hard and pushed us all the way but we had enough to get through.
“It has been a fantastic season, winning a league and cup double and I want to thank the players for all their effort.
“We are going to celebrate now but we know that we will have to work even harder next campaign if we want to remain a success.”
