A SINGLE goal from Tom Williamson was enough to hand third division Turks Head a 1-0 victory over second division itis itis in the McCain Cup final last night.
Colin Jenkinson’s Turks Head side seemed in the mood for goals from the off and were unlucky not to go ahead after five minutes when Joe Cairns hit the crossbar with a well drilled effort which had itis itis goalkeeper Tom Hicks well beat.
Turks goalkeeper Jamie Pygas was somewhat fortunate not to gift itis itis a goal when his clearance was cleared back into his own hands by forward Neil Bowling, much to his relief.
itis itis perhaps had most of the play in the first half but they found themselves behind on the hour mark.
A corner was swung in for Turks by Ashley Blake and Damian Robinson headed the ball on.
The quickest to react after that was Williamson, who guided the ball past Hicks at the far post.
itis itis tried to get back into the game but as they grew more tired Turks created some more chances.
Mike Barker hit a left-foot shot past the upright and Jon Cairns also went close, but they had done enough to seal the win.
