SCARBOROUGH Ladies FC teams entered the annual City of York Girls League Tournament last Sunday, and although no Boro teams won, the girls gave a good account of themselves.

The under-13s had an early start, leaving Scarborough at 7.30am to reach Poppleton in time for registration.

Two teams were entered at this age-group, with the younger Blues having the edge over the sides’ six matches each - finishing with a point more than the older Red team.

The Blues held eventually finalists York RI to a draw, although the Reds won 1-0 in the battle of the Boro girls.

The under-11s reached the semi-final in the afternoon session, while the under-14s and under-16s didn’t manage to push on through to the next stage after the groups.

The club are still looking for new players to join the ranks for next season, and anyone interested in signing up is asked to call 07787 563748 for more information.
