Habton’s Robin swoops on Valley

Great Habton had Robin Richardson to thank for their powerful eight-wicket win against Forge Valley 3rds in division A of the Derwent Valley League.

Valley moved to a solid score of 196 due to scores of 27 not out from Ben Storey, 26 from Steve Boyes, 41 from Eric Hall and 36 from Tim Farrant.

Jordan Allenby’s 3-12 and Jack Hall’s 3-33 kept Valley on their toes.

Habton then lost a wicket in the first over, but a superb 125 not out from Richardson and 48 from John Lumley put on 136 runs, which helped their side over the line.

Flamborough edged a tight 10-run victory against Muston.

The East Yorkshire side tallied 147-4 with knocks in the 30s coming from Andy Dixon, Luke Dixon and Marcos Garcia. James Tadman finished with handy figures of 3-20.

Phil Marr then struck 49 and Pete Robson chipped in with 34, but Harry Burton’s 4-29 was enough to knock them off the pace.

Lockton did enough to beat Whitby 3rds by 62 runs.

Liam Taylor was the batsman in form for Lockton with 63 and Simon Boyes made 25 in a score of 141.

Tom Wheldon gave Whitby hope with the bat and ball as he took 3-42 and then contributed 22 at the start of the Whitby innings.

Sam Farrow’s 3-7 and John Lay’s 4-14 then brought things to an end as Whitby were bowled out for 79.

In division B, Chris Hodgson was a man in form as Wold Newton 2nds beat Filey 2nds.

Hodgson’s 5-21 helped to see off Filey for just 48, before James Ward posted an unbeaten 34 to complete the job.

Nawton Grange 2nds battled to a win by 35 runs against Snainton.

Grange were dismissed for an attainable 122, with Nathan Marwood hitting 25 and Michael Kipling gobbling up 5-10.

Michael Webster gave Snainton some hope with a score of 38, but 5-15 from James Dunn and 3-37 from Marwood wrapped things up for Grange.

Matt Kennedy dropped agonisingly short of his century in Forge Valley 4ths’ division C victory by 58 runs against Ravenscar 2nds.

Kennedy’s 99 was the top score in Valley’s 203, while Jon Murrell bowled superbly for his 5-46.

John Nelson kept Ravenscar on track with an undefeated 46, but Chris Bryan’s 3-11 played a huge part in slowing them to 145-8.

Muston 2nds kept the pressure on leaders Cayton 3rds after they beat Valley Bar Nomads by 91 runs.

John Precious and Max Truelove both reached the 60s for Muston, while Ben Atkinson took 5-34 to restrict them to 210-9.

The Muston attack, including Mark Precious (3-17) then saw off the Nomads for 119.

Thornton Dale 2nds held on for a 14-run win against Ganton 2nds.

Jake Sarup took four wickets in Dale’s 120-5, which was highlighted by Will Taylor’s 34.

Joel Sarup then struck 54, but John Ellis’ 5-54 put the breaks on.

Scalby 3rds clung to their task in beating Wykeham 3rds by nine runs.

Scalby closed on 151-8, Jack Boddy posting 40, while Ben Norman took 3-50.

Willie Wood chipped in with an impressive 67 for Wykeham, but Tom Hendry (3-19) and Nobeel Hussain (5-24) concluded the game.
