We edged past Bridlington in the Yorkshire Shield on Saturday after a real game of two halves.
The fact we’ve beaten Brid twice already this season after the club went so long without beating them just shows how far we’ve come and the expectations we’re placing upon ourselves as we look to progress.
I think some of the guys just see it as another game now and the pressure is relieved somewhat.
We were impressive for the first 40 minutes on Saturday, but we really did switch off after the break and allowed Brid to come back into it.
At moments in the first half our rugby wasn’t excactly the most intelligent, but it was free-flowing and no doubt entertaining.
We missed a few chances to put points on the board and that almost came back to bite us in the backside as Brid were a totally transformed outfit after the break.
That takes us into a quarter-final clash with Guisborough, and I have to admit that I know very little about them.
They are flying high in Durham/Northumberland One and have won eight of their 10 league games to sit at the top, so it will be a test for the guys.
There is no doubt that it is a test we can come through and make progress in this competition.
The guys all set their stall out that they wanted to go far in this competition, and that is just what we intend to try and achieve.
Before that we play Pontefract in Yorkshire One on Saturday. It will be a tough game as it always is at Pontefract, but we’ll go looking to win.
