Scarborough Athletic Club members have been in top form at events around the North of England over the past week or so.

Scarborough AC was represented at the Lincolnshire Half-marathon by Phillip Markham.

The race is billed as the fifth best half marathon in the United Kingdom.

Markham took full advantage when achieving a personal best time of 90minutes 48 seconds, which is the fourth fastest by a club member this year so far, and was an improvement of over three minutes.

Liz Jones was once again on her travels when competing in the Sunderland Half-marathon.

The race attracted a large field of 1,163 and finished in Sunderland FC’s Stadium of Light.

Jones competed her latest half marathon in 2 hours 26 minutes which was two minutes faster than her time at Berlin

Two members Scarborough AC took part in the Heart of the Wold Sportive cycle event, which consisted of options of 37,100 and 134 kilometre distances over the hilly East Yorkshire country roads.

Matthew Middleton and Jayne Graves completed the Silver 100 kilometre course in 4 hours 56 minutes and 5 hours 15 minutes respectively

They were joined by Scarborough Paragon Cycling Club member Tony Graves, who completed the 134 kilometre Gold event in 4 hours 45 minutes

Seven Scarborough AC members competed in the latest weekly Sewerby Parkrun.

The first club member finisher was Ben Thompson who was making a club and event debut, and was placed fourth in 19 minutes 11 seconds.

He was followed Daryl Maffey who was 11th in a personal best 20.02.

David Field returned to the event after time out through injury during which he marshalled the race.

Field finished his comeback in 24.15 and was third over-50.

Rachel Gyte finished in 7th with a 25.05 personal best time, and was followed by Neil Roberts who was also making a comeback to the event, and finished 44th in 26.52

Nicola Riley achieved a personal best time of 27.09 after finishing 18th overall woman and second over-45.

Diane Roberts who was also returning to the event, finished 23rd and the second over-50 woman in 29.24
