Scarborough Cricket Club Chairman Bill Mustoe has admitted he will experience mixed emotions should Yorkshire seal victory on the third day against Leicestershire today.

Leicestershire sit 328 runs behind the Tykes with nine wickets in hand after a superb effort yesterday, and while Mustoe wants to see the home side win, he admits the club will be counting the cost should the game finish prematurely.

Mustoe said: “It would be really nice if Yorkshire could win the game Saturday.

“A Yorkshire win is what we’re after though.

“We want Yorkshire to slate their first win of the season at the seaside home of Yorkshire cricket.

“This is an incredibly pleasant way to lose money though.”

Mustoe has also praised the efforts of North Marine Road groundsman John Dodds after his round-the-clock efforts to get the tie against Leicestershire on.

Mustoe added: “I can’t praise the efforts of John enough. The ground was 60 per cent under water on Sunday and they’ve worked miracles.”
